Handling Young Drug Users?

Question
I'm a counselor and get a lot of youth through my office. How do you handle young drug users?

Answer
Personally, I take very few drug addiction cases any more unless they are willing to first go to a center for "cleaning" out. Then, our sessions really take off. I have found that just getting someone to stop taking isn't enough--the real challenge is their re-defining themselves. Since you are also a counselor, then you have an edge on skills to help with that aspect, along with the tremendous help that hypnosis can give. As with any type of counseling, hypnosis will work only with someone willing to change--and that's most certainly true with this problem. Also, the client has to be willing to allow the hypnotherapist to go for the source of the addictiveness, so it can be cleared. That is certainly what I would do. I have created a script that is particularly good at the beginning of work with such a client. It is designed to "clear the brush" in terms of previous imprints that have led to this habit. I then use regression for anything that still hangs in there in that deeper mind. From that point on then I give specific suggestions about quitting the habit. Throughout any process, I am always giving suggestions regarding self-esteem and releasing the hold of the past.
