CLIENT’S PHYSICAL COMFORT

QUESTION:

I want to know why a client should not cross their legs while being hypnotized. I've tried researching it but to no avail. I'm sure it was explained to me at one time but have since forgotten. thanks for your help.

ANSWER:

It's simple - The leg could go to sleep with the weight of the other leg, causing discomfort either during the session or upon emerging. The same is true in wearing glasses, which can begin to feel heavy, which might be bothersome to the client.

I ask people to remove their glasses, but I haven't insisted regarding the legs. I'll say to my client, "you might find yourself more comfortable with arms and legs uncrossed.”  If they respond by doing so that tells you they are quite obedient, but if they choose not to, I figure they know best about their body, or they’ll learn how it responds to hypnosis without my telling them.
