Managing Chronic Fatigue: Make A Lasting Change

I just want to sleep all the time.

Everything takes too much effort.

My thinking gets foggy sometimes.

My family complains about my irritability.

I'm sick and tired of being tired.

Can hypnosis help me?

What is chronic fatigue syndrome?

Some people describe chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) as a "weariness like a cloud that never lifts." Some find that projects once vital and interesting are now flat, without color. Some experience depression or anxiety; some have stomach aches or migraines; some become sensitive to light or have trouble concentrating. Sometimes it's difficult to put together enough energy to do one small task. It is more than just stress. The physical symptoms add up to a frustrating and complex experience. It takes more than an act of will to make a person well again.

What happens when I use hypnosis?

Hypnosis works with your subconscious (or unconscious) mind. In a relaxed state, your mind can take in new information and use it as a new resource to help your body work better. The unconscious mind handles the automatic body functions and hypnosis can encourage those systems to operate at their best. Hypnosis can encourage your systems to relax, to use nutrition well, to help you approach your life with hope again.

How can hypnosis help the pain I experience?

Hypnosis can help you learn to manage your pain. It can keep you motivated to do the exercises needed for flexibility and movement. Hypnosis can support the nutrition that supplies what the body needs for better defense. It can help you function for longer periods of time without the discomfort you have experienced in the past.

I'm exhausted without enough sleep. Can hypnosis help me to sleep better?

Sleep deprivation or interference is a common problem for people with chronic fatigue. Hypnosis can help train your body to relax. You'll learn to breathe more deeply. You can train your body to "let go" for awhile so you can go to sleep more easily, and once asleep, sleep more soundly. Hypnosis can also help you go back to sleep if you are awakened for any reason.

I am depressed and angry most of the time. How can hypnosis help me?

A chronic illness takes its toll not only on the body, but also on the mind and spirit. Caring for the body is often such a major task that the mind is overwhelmed. Anxiety, discouragement and depression are common consequences of dealing with chronic fatigue. Working in a relaxed and receptive state, the positive suggestions given in hypnosis can become automatic in your thinking and doing. Hypnosis can help lift the depression. It can alleviate your anxiety and ease your mind. Hypnosis can also help your memory and concentration, easing the frustration caused by forgetfulness.

Can I use hypnosis and regular medical care together?

Yes. Hypnotherapy does not take the place of qualified medical care. Hypnotherapy can help alleviate painful symptoms and help your body to work at its best.
