Using Hypnosis with ChildrenQuestion Answer Children are often very responsive to hypnosis, by which I mean any method that reaches the subconscious mind. The bridge between the conscious and the unconscious or subconscious mind is one’s imagination. Unless a child’s imagination has been totally stifled, they are most receptive to a variety of ways that can bring about quick change for many issues. They deal in imaginative play, stories, fantasies, daydreams, etc., all of which can be used to re-program the mind. Their minds aren’t cluttered with issues of what is real or unreal, what is pretend or not pretend. You might say, that they are in a hypnotic state a good deal of the time, where they are keenly receptive to suggestions. This is why it is so important that parents and teachers be mindful of the words and "body english” they use with children. Hypnotic and other imaginal methods can help with improving peer and family relationships, study habits and grades, grief, bedwetting, anger, habit control, self-esteem, and many other problems. |
