Gagging with Fruits & Vegetables

Question
I need to know if hypnosis would be a helpful option for me. When I try to eat fruits and vegetables, my throat closes and my gag reflex starts. This is not an allergy. I think it is because when I was growing up, my Dad would force me to eat them until I vomited. Even when I was pregnant and I knew that it would be good for my baby if I ate fruits and vegetables, I couldn't gag them down. Do you think that hypnosis would help me get past this?

Answer
Well, you hit the nail on the head when you say you suspect this problem goes back to when your father forced you to eat what you didn't want, until you vomited. Those occasions created a cluster of imprints in your mind, rather like creating a tape or computer program. Since your subconscious mind doesn't have the concept of time, your reactions are as if that forcing was still happening today. I feel strongly that hypnosis can be an especially effective way to get at this problem, but it is important that you get someone who has been doing hypnosis for some time, and who specializes in getting at the root of a problem. Your therapist needs to be able to clear the imprints caused by your father's forcing these things on you, and create a new approach to your eating that is more in keeping with today, rather than when you were a child.
