Fear of the DentistQuestion Here I am, a full-grown adult who still refuses to get to the dentist, despite their improved techniques and equipment. This drives my wife crazy and, of course, makes my teeth reach worse condition until I’m forced into more radical work. Inspite of knowing this, I’m still terrified of going; I can’t seem to pull myself out of the fear. Someone I know said a friend of theirs went to a hypnotist for the same thing. It’s hard to believe it can be that easy. Answer For those who go to a hypnotherapist and learn to use self-hypnosis, fears of visits to dentist and physicians tend to fade into nothingness. Hypnosis can lessen the amount of drugs used to kill pain; it can help relax and calm you, so that you don’t increase the problem through tenseness and anxiety. I’ve found that hypnosis even lessens discomfort after a difficult procedure, and helps everything heal faster. Don’t put off that visit any longer. Set your dental appointment, and then a hypnotist to prepare you for that visit. You’ll not be sorry. |
