Fear of Intimacy

Question

My girlfriend suffers from a fear of intimacy. She always wants to run away if I get too close, she has many walls, which I can't break through. I know her problems stem from her childhood and parents divorce, and in turn choosing abusive men.  Have you dealt with fear of intimacy before, if so were you successful, and could you help my girlfriend?

I understand how your girlfriend's fear can be hurting you.  I certainly have dealt with quite a bit with others and successfully.  I use a combination of counseling and hypnosis to get at the issues that are “pushing her buttons” at the subconscious level.  However, she is the one who has to want the help.  If she does, then if you aren't in my own geographical area, contact a good therapist in your own.  I have several directories of professional hypnotherapists listed in my links pages, which can be reached from the bottom of my Home and Ask Del pages.  Hope this is helpful to you.
