Question

I would like to know if hypnosis can help me !!! I have a problem with food. I don’t know whether you’d call me bulimic or anorexic. Can you help me ???

Answer

Yes hypnosis can help. However, in my own practice, I’ve found that it works best with Bulimia, and not as well with Anorexia.  This is because most anorexics I have had in my office want to change, provided that it doesn’t cause them to gain any weight.  Since underweight is a serious physical problem, in no way can I work around their basic decision and body image.

With bulimia (as with anorexia) I have found there must be one condition for your success--that you're willing to change your habits, which come out of a compulsive desire to not gain any weight at all, and that you are willing to change your body’s weight. If you are willing, then I would work with your body's natural ability to select foods and habits that are healthy for you, and at the weight ideal for your body. However, but if you counteract that with a continued fear about gaining weight, then I can't possibly help you.  Hypnosis works only if you're willing for it to do so.
