Alcoholism

Question
I am interested in knowing if alcoholism can be treated through hypnosis. My son has been through out patient rehab three times and is about to undergo another intensive session. He acknowledges he is an alcoholic, but, despite the "drying out," hasn't been able to make it beyond 3 months without a drink. Can hypnosis help?

Answer
I'm sure it's been painful seeing your son through this experience. I would say that (1) hypnosis can help him if he wants the help; (2) that hypnosis can be the most helpful to him when he comes right out of rehab before he takes a drink; (3) that a hypnotherapist who can help him get to the source of the alcoholism would do the best for him; or (4) a counselor who specializes in chemical dependency and does hypnosis.
