A CASE STUDY ABOUT IMPROVING GRADES
By Linda Compton

This case study is about a 11 year old male child I worked with. This is such an important subject because our children these days are really suffering from fears of all kinds. The peer pressure and pressure to achieve is at an all time high I think.

I lived down the street from an elementary school. I wanted to hire a 11 or 12 year to cut my grass. I spotted a boy, very tall and decided he was the one. We talked, called his mother and she agreed to let him do the yard. He lived with both parents and had two or three siblings. After he finished the lawn one day, I bought him in to have some lemonade. I asked him about school and his grades. He told me hated school; reason being he got D's and F's with one C. Of course I was interested in how he managed to get these grades. Called his mother told her what I did and got her permission to work with him on improving his grades. He told me that when he was called up to the black board, he got nervous and couldn't remember his math. (the F class). The kids laughed at him and called him stupid. Well, being the big boy he was, he followed that up with beating them up and off to the principal he went. Next the call to the mother and this had gone on too many times to count. Everybody was sick and tired of this boy. How sick was he, he said he was a 100 when asked on a scale from 1-10 how nervous and afraid he would get at the board.

Through (using) EFT, we got the fear and nervousness down to a 1. Then we install a "secret code work" which he chose as "FEARLESS," then we visualized him waking up, what are you going to be? FEARLESS, taking a shower, what are you going to be? FEARLESS. Dressing, having breakfast, etc. We visualized his entire morning, leaving the house, turning each corner and of course when he passed my house, he was to look at the grass and the door and remember the lemonade and what was he going to be? FEARLESS. I followed this course until he could see the school, cross at the light, walking into the school, seeing his room door, seeing his teacher and sitting down. Each time, asking what are you going to be? FEARLESS. You can only imagine the end of the story. I might add that each time he said FEARLESS, his voice got louder and louder that by the time he was seeing his teacher, he was screaming at the top. FEARLESS!

I taught him to do EFT, and he was to do it each morning after he sat in his seat. "Even though I think I am afraid and nervous of doing math, of going to the board, of doing my English, etc, I really, really like myself."

This child went from the above grades to B's & C's including one A. His mother called me and asked me what had done to her son. I thought there was so negative result. She said he was doing his homework and chores without being told. She made an unannounced visit to my house to tell me about his new and improved grades. She said the teacher told her that she noticed him doing
something funny, "touching himself on his face and places." He has since received a scholarship to a private school in San Francisco and is doing fine.

Of course, we talked his home life, how he felt about his siblings, the time he had to stay with his grandmother because protective services took them away from his parents. But basically, the EFT, Installing the "Secret Code Work" and that funny visualization is what I think did it, while sitting my kitchen drinking lemonade. After each FEARLESS, I would tell him to drink a swallow of lemonade to EMPOWER him. We had a ball playing. And of course, I explained to him that he could use this "Secret Code Word" for any fear or as a motivation to do anything. When one is FEARLESS, we can usually move ahead. Letting the child choose their own secret word and explain to me
what the word means to them is most important.

I ask children how did they choose that particular word, when they tell me, I then talk about "you see, you have everything inside you." I didn't have that word in me, I probably would have chose something else. But you had that word right inside you and then can go on to talk about what else they need that might be inside of them. To tell you the truth, I think it was really the good lemonade I make with Trader Joe's frozen lemonade and mineral water. Try it! It works miracles and is great for therapy.
