ABOUT EXERCISING
My recommendation for exercise is that you hypnotically bring a client back to a time when they enjoyed it - ask them what's great about it (what do they enjoy) - bring as many senses to their attention as you can - what do they see? What do they hear? What do they smell? And of course, (most importantly) what do they feel? Let them re-live the great feelings of moving their bodies. And have them bring those feelings into the future when they see themselves exercising once again - and really enjoying it. Let them get into the feelings of pure enjoyment and pleasure. Have them see themselves in many different outfits and scenarios moving their bodies in many different ways (there are a lot of creative ways to get exercise). A lot of people think that they have to go from being sedentary to being Ms./Mr. Fitness USA. I recommend that they start slowly and build up gradually to where they want to be. Otherwise, the pressure is just too much. Remember: any movement is better than no movement at all. And remember to have them bring as many senses as possible to the party.
(NOTE: Another therapist suggests that using the words "moving your body" may be more helpful than the word "exercises" for those who've always had a negative attitude toward exercising.)
