Seven Year Old with Anger and ADHD:
Del,
I am working with a seven year old who has anger issues. His dad is very angry too and Mom said Dad would probably be willing to come in also. I'm waiting to hear back. He is getting in fights at school regularly. He is ADHD.
I could not get him to imagine or pretend or play like. He also did not like closing his eyes. He kept jumping out of his chair to look at various things in the office. I did have him sit on his hands which lasted about 30 seconds. I also used a doll made of paper clips to be an example of relaxation which caused him to show that he could completely relax for about 10 seconds. But by the time I started making suggestions he was either out of his chair or asking how do you make this chair go up and down? or some other question. He asked many questions right in the middle of my talking which I just answered and continued with suggestions.
He loves taking things apart and putting them back together so I let him play with a toy that he did that with. Since he was very focused I used that trance as THE trance I then just gave him direct suggestion.
I made him some recordings for his mother to play in the car on the way to school and one to listen to at bedtime which is mostly geared toward sleep because he also takes forever to get to sleep she says. And she is coming over alone today to learn to use EFT to begin using with him. He responds well to her touch she says.
I made sure I played with him a lot between bouts of firing in suggestions and gave him a whole lot of ego strengthening suggestions. I absolutely adore kids and they like me so we had a good time. I may have even had more fun then him! For sure I at least got rapport.
At one point I leaned in very close and whispered. There's nothing wrong with you. There never was. Your good enough and your smart enough to do anything you want to do and be anything you want to be and you’re going to show how good you are at school and everyone will see etc. And for about 20 seconds he looked at me with such clarity and depth. He was so beautiful.
On the way home his mother told me that she asked him if he could tell in his heart or in his mind if he made any changes. He said, "Actually mom, both." So I am hoping that something stuck while the little guy was in the "magic" chair.
By the way, he is seeing a psychologist and has had some positive changes. What do most psychologists do if not hypnosis with kids?
