How Much Hypnosis in Group Work?

Question
I'm putting together a 5 week weightloss program and was wondering how much time of each of your sessions was actually devoted to hypnosis (group in trance).

Answer
My W.C. sessions were 1-1/2 hours, with the exception of the first one which was 2 hours to allow time for everyone to share something of themselves and what they hoped for from their time together. One hour for the other sessions seemed too short, especially when someone arrived late--the 1-1/2 hours seemed to be about right. I always started on time, however, since I believe that when you wait for everyone to come it simply encourages people to think that things don't really get started on time anyway. I broke each session down into: (1) about 15-20 min to get responses from each as to how much closer they were to their goal (I don't ask how much weight they "lost"), and any special habit changes or insights during the week. Discussion followed as to where it was easiest, and where hardest during the week, whether the group could help with any suggestions for anyone, and how I might be helpful with the hypnosis. (2) reading an article or section out of a book on some aspect of weight and self-image, confidence, etc. with group discussion as to where they experienced it, etc. (3) giving a homework assignment or reading assignment out of the packet they had been given at the start of the program. (In later groups I will probably not give out a packet but hand out pages as we need them each week, punched with 3 holes for binder-use.) (4) 30 min. for hypnosis work. Hope that helps. I'm sure you'll find something that works well for you.
