Fidgetiness

Question

I have, as a client, a brilliant nine-year-old who cannot stop "fidgeting" and talking in school. Mom is concerned. I did one session. I know she was in hypnosis. I just need more info of how to proceed. I do well with adults and have very few children. I want to do the best I can for her.

Answer

A 9-year-old might respond very well to animals.  If so, ask her which animal does she believe to be the most "peaceful" or the most calm, regardless of the situation. Ask her to describe the qualities of such a beast.  Then, give suggestion that encourage her to become that that animal, with those qualities, who creates peacefulness wherever they are.  This script suggestion, which was created from work with a 6-year old, has worked well with others; it appears, if I remember correctly, in Volume I of the Great Escapes series.

If animals don't work for her, perhaps a calm space does, like being by a waterfall or at the ocean, anywhere she feels calm. Have her recall this, at school, whenever she starts getting bored or feels restless.
